just buy a regular filter from ebay. they are the same as k & n and way cheaper. they do the exact same job you can get them for bout 9 bucks maybe on ebay.

Not sure if the ones on eBay for cheap are washable, though.

You can clean/wash the K&N indefinitely. The cleaning kit costs something like... $10 I want to say, and it's good for a number of cleanings. I'd invest in that.

wait, if you have the rksport wai, it already has a K&N filter. Just go to a pepboys or advance and pick up a filter cleaning kit

If you do have a K&N on there now, it will say on the end. And you said you've cleaned it with air and water? Then you've probably just been skipping over the re-oiling. I bet once you clean it and spray new oil on there it'll look brand new. Just go somewhere and buy the K&N Recharge Kit... thing.

okay im not 100% sure it's the rksport, cus it came with the car, but i am 100% sire it looks like this....

so if it is the k&n ill get the recharge kit, but if it's not any filter will fit?

That doesn't look like a K&N. If the filter doesnt say K&N somewhere on it then it's probably not. Will any filter fit? Not really, but kind of. Measure the diameter of your intake, or easier just take your old air filter into the store and match up the ends. The end of the filter that connects to the tube needs to match the tube size. You can get the filter off by losening that metal clamp... then just wiggle it off of the intake.

yea i looked at it and its not, that means i cant use the k&n recharge then right? ill just go to pep boys or autozone and get another filter then. but those things are like 30+

I doubt it can be cleaned, but I could be wrong. Yes air filters are faily expensive, but you have to look at it like an investment.

Other cone filters can be washed but it depends on what kind of filter you got. K&N are oil based filters, thus can be washed via the K&N cleaning kit. The ones on ebay (now heres where it gets tricky) can and cant be. If its an oil based one, then you can use the K&N kit for it or the Spectre brand cleaner kit. If its a paper, sponge or cotton fiber, then you simply just blow it clean with compressed air (from the inside out).Oil based filters wont clean as easily as paper/cotton/sponge based filters so if you start blowing a filter and the filter color doesnt start coming back, then use the kit. Another way to test for an oil based filter is to get a white sheet of paper, fit a piece of the paper in between the grooves of the filter and sqeeze with two fingers. You'll notice a slight oil stain/translucentness if oil based.

Poly Fiber Oil based = Cleaning kit
Paper/Cotton Fiber based = Blowing compressed air (from inside-out)
Sponge based = Soak in luke warm water or blow out.

Also a good way of keeping it clean is to rotate between other filter as stated in a previuos post. K&Ns work great as do Air Hogs

Hope it helps.
