Im replacing the ac evaporator/drier in my 2000 cavalier. Is there anything specific I have to do to the new before I put it in? I flushed the ac system. But is their anything else?
Thanks
Run a vacuum pump after you put it in. Get the air out of the system before you recharge it.

Is that something I can get somewhere to loan it out or do I have to take it somewhere?
Thanks
Cheap vacuum pump
10 bucks. This one runs on compressed air.
Compresser
I don't know if auto parts stores loan vacuum pumps, but you can get a small air compresser with a tank for like 80 bucks.
Don't skip this step. The refridgerant when mixed with atmospheric air forms an acid that eats aluminum, and you'll have a shload of pinholes thoughout the whole ac system.

You should take it to a place that can recover refrigerent.
They would recover the old refrigerant, vacuum the system, replace the accumulator, vacuum the system, add oil and recharge the system.
And vacuuming the system gets rid of moisture.
Believe I would take it to a shop. This is the only thing i really dont know about on cars. I have a 2000 cavalier with 140000 miles on it and i have had it since day one but im in texas for school and the places around here want a 1000 dollars. I have an aircompressor so i bought the pump the only other question is what is this oil that I keep hearing about for the accumulator? I have to put something else in it other than the refridgent?
Thanks Guys a huge help

The oil is usually already mixed in the right ratio with the R-134 in the cans. Read the label when you're in the parts store to make sure. It's to lube the ac compresser.
