Blueish White Smoke
Thursday, August 24, 2006 2:07 PM
I got my oil changed last week, because I was too lazy to do it myself. Well since then the cars been blowing a blueish white smoke when I step on the accelerator, sometimes (although rarely) it doesn't do it. I have no lights on or anything which is wierd. I was wondering if anyone knows what it might be.

thanx

Maybe they put in a thinner weight oil than you were previously running?

That's oil my friend. Sounds like valve stem seals are needing replaced.

It won't be piston rings because it doesn't do it at high rpm just initial acceleration. That's stem seals. Possibly caused by someone using 0w-20 but our cars prefer 5w-30 so I doubt even 0w-20 would smoke even if they were retarded enough to put that but I don't think so.

I completely forgot I made this post...

anyways it got fixed, they claim they did nothing wrong. They confessed to puring a quart of 10w30 and 3 quarts of 5w30. So I changed the oil last saturday to 5w30, it smoked a couple times. but now it doesn't smoke anymore.

thanks all for the help.
