Crank Sensor Wiring Different on 95'--97' Cavalier
Sunday, September 03, 2006 8:04 PM
I recently replaced the engine in my 95 cavalier with an engine out of a 97 cavalier. A few things were different but im having a lot of trouble with the crank position sensor. The sensor itself was different on the two engines so i had to cut the wires on my stock harness of the 95' model and hard wire the plug for the 97' model. Now the engine wont start and im not getting any spark. If anyone can help me with a diagram or something to make sure i got the right color wires in the right pins of the 97' model plug i would greatly appriciate it. I think maybe i have burnt up the crank sensor doing this. Also if there is any other things that you think may help please feel free to throw them in.
I GREATLY APPRICIATE ANY HELP

I just got done dealing with the same issue,97 car and 96 engine. I tried wiring up the 3 wire crank sensor plug but it didn't work,i had to replace it with a97 2 wire crank sensor. Clean out the hole it goes in too, the 3 wire sensor is a little smaller and allowed build up in the hole. I also replaced ignition module and coils with the 97 one before I tried the crank sensor but i'm not sure if I had to to make it work.
