Interior Illumination Problem..

I am having an interior illumination problem on my 02 Cav and anyone who may have some input would be greatly appreciated. I just noticed tonight that when I went to adjust the dimmer switch that dims up/down the needles on the Cluster, the HVAC Unit, the Power Window Switch and the (P,R,N,D,2,1) Panel - Nothing happens. The switch that dims these things still turns on the dome light when turned all the way up, so I dont think its a bad switch. They worked this morning on the way to work so I think it just happened today. I have an aftermarket guage overlay which has been there for a few years, and just sunday I installed an in-dash dvd player, but I dont think that would have anything to do with it. Everything in my car has been very cleanly and correctly installed. I work in the Service dept. at an automotive company (Not Chevy) so im not illiterate when it comes to these things. I checked all the fuses on the inside of the car on the drivers side and they all seem to be good fuses. SO NOW Im wondering what would cause all the illuminations in the car to be inoperative? I would GREATLY appreciate any input to solving this problem or anything. Thanks guys!!

That switch may contain:-

1. A switch-for dome light ON/OFF

2. A variable resistor -for the dimming function

How about the switch is fine but the resistance has broken/switch wiper has lost contact

Just a thought

These cars are also equipped with a dimmer module.

You know I heard today that one of the possibilites, which is a good one, is that it could be the BCM, which is located in the factory stereo unit (which is in the trunk powered by a t-harness). The BCM apparently controls most everything in the car (including illumination so I hear?) Anyhow, it started happening AFTER I replaced my old pioneer stereo with the pioneer in-dash stereo dvd player. So could something have happened with or from installing the in-dash dvd player? NOTE: One thing I noticed today that I didnt mention in the first post is that when my headlights are on, and I turn my car off, there is a beep noise from the left front speaker. If my headlights are off at the time I turn the car off, it will not beep, therefore I know it is not the dvd player, but possibly the guage overlay. This is a pretty @!#$ty situation. LOL.. Thanks guys

lol, in my 02 ecocav i installed the deck and used just an aftermarket door chime unit (loud as hell might I add, i will NEVER leave my lights on) and have never had a problem with anyhing else. sounds like an annoying little problem you've got there. good luck with it.

No thats not my problem , the problem is trying to figure out why the guages and hvac unit as well as the window switches aren't illuminating. I could give a @!#$ about the door chime, its just the door chime only started happening when the illuminations went out.. lol .. weird stuff
