Well i have to replace my fule level sending unit on my 99 sunfire. Now i know i have to drop hte tank and the book says i have to remove the heat shiled as well...what did you do to remove it? drill the rivits? THen what did you use to replace the head shield? screws? new rivits? please help..phil
u dont remove any heat shield..
disconnect al the fuel lines going into the tank (pretty self expalitory)
unbolt the 2 15mm bolts on the straps and ur good to go
if its full i suggest putting a piece of wood on a jack to support it and to help you lower it evenly if your by urself..
Yeah--heat shield doesn't have to come off, but you might have to "mess" with it a little to get it out of the way. No worries...it bends right back.
