I am about to replace my stock exhaust system and am considering adding a header. Any comments, suggestions, bad or good experiences? Thanks, Dave
what engine u got? if its a 2.4, i reccomend Pace Setter (it was the only brand i found wen i needed one) i've had mine for a lil over a year, and i never had a problem with it. no leaks, didint do any mods to it. only mod u have to do to exisiting parts are you have to weld it to the cat.
I went with pacesetter, I have a 2002 2200 engine. My friend has a pacesetter header, and if you dont know what you are doing. Have somebody else do it for you. We (mostly him) had to tear just about everything apart. And, if you can weld ... make youself a exhaust system on Jegs.com ... its not really that hard, you just have to know what you are doing.

Go with DC for your headers.. huge gains followed by a tanabe G-force end pipe
dc header for the eco is like 500 bux
Thanks for everyones comments and suggestions. Anybody else? All opinions are appreciated. Dave
Buy a Magnaflow Muffler and get an exhaust shop to do 2 1/4" piping from the cat to the muffler. Its a lil bit cheaper then buying a cat back system. Thats what I did and i love it. Its loud when you really stomp on it but cruising on the highway its barely noticeable, and around town it just purrs. I dont know what to tell you about headers though cuz i still have the stock one on.
Thanks Boosted Z24. I am considering the stainless Magnaflow system from Gravana, what do you think?
too damn expensive, you could just buy that muffler and have a shop make the pipe for probably $300 LESS. my magnaflow muffler was $120, and the custom pipes were $100 (includes installing cat, resonator, and muffler).
Ill make a sig someday
for catback go to a shop. I had them weld me a custom 2.5 catback with tip for 170. The job was done very well no crushes at all. even sounds better than my friends magnaflow cat back
pacesetter for 2.4 imo is a bit of a pain if u dont get the coated version. after time it corrodes and makes it hard to take the ball socket joint apart. If you get a pacesetter header get the coated version. dont cheap out cause it will rust and eventually crack which is what mine is starting to do. I dont care cause i got the header for 60 bucks new from a org member last year but a years time on a header isnt a long amount of life. since im planning on going turbo im not concerned about replacing it right now.
I don't know about the rest of you guys, but when I do my header, I plan on going with this setup, along with their 2.5" catback. It's pricey, but it's the best looking one I've seen yet.

Sleeper style, they don't see it coming that way.
On my '03 Eco i installed a pace setter ceramic coated header, fit perfectly. Also don't use the crappy paper gaskets that come with the aftermarket headers. Get a new metal factory gasket. (or reuse your original if it's in good shape).
