Car Turn off
Saturday, August 26, 2006 3:43 PM
I was riding in my friends cavy today, and his car was little wierd. His car randomly turns off, he driving and bam a sound similar to gunshots coming out the exhaust. He was constantly trying to turn the car back on everytime, sometimes it would and the times it wouldn't he'd have to rev high a couple time to get the car to move. He had his fuel system cleaned, got a tune up and now he's getting a new catalytic converter in hopes that will fix it. Does this sound like familiar to anyone?......

oh and his car is a 2200 stick...

The only time that same thinhappened to me was in my daytona 2.2L the car would run normal than hit a bump or pot hole and then the car would jerk back and forth spitting and back fire vrooom pfffffff put put vrooom pfffff bang stall.. like mine it might be the cat inside its brokin up and some pieces are moving around inside clogging the pipe cause backpressure on the motor replacing the cat or knocking out the catalyis might fit this problem is there any engine codes coming off the car? I'd have that looked into first rather than just buying parts till the problem go's away

Sounds to me he needs to get these few things checked out :

Fuel injectors inspected

Coil packs.

could have burnt valves Or timing chain is wornout.

Also check for vaccum leaks in hoses or intake gaskets.

Its also wouldnt hurt to inspect what kind of condition youre spark plugs are in.

Good Luck

There is a rattling noise coming from inside the cat, so that's why he's getting a new one.

Fuel injectors, coil pack and spark plugs are all new. but i'll tell him to the the other ones.

thanks
