my mechanic said i've got a sputtering problem and need to get hotter running spark plugs that are platinum
what should i get and gap size?

Regular Bosch Platinum plugs... (don't need +2's or +4's)
not sure of gap.
i think the gap is .050 or something like that. i cant remember. i cant see why he would want you to go up a heat range, generally going down gives better performance.

Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!
car is sputtering. all i could find were bosch platinum +2, will it cause any problems

anything bosch is garbage......thats what i had in my car when i bought it, and i will never buy them again. i had idle problems and such, same thing happened to my camaro. Go with Delco Platinums, you wont be sorry
Ill make a sig someday
DO NOT gap platinum plugs. They are pregapped and you'll mess them up gapping them. I use iridium plugs in my car...no problems here.

Sorry I meant to say cheap platinum plugs. When your gapping them remember that the platinum plugs require less firing energy so the spark isn't as hot and that you should gap them .05-.09 over specifications to get the same spark intensity. It's not required tho I left my iridiums at stock specs and it's fine until i get my MDS coilpacks in then they'll be gapped over.
Do you make frequent short trips? That or running rich would be some of the only reasons I could see going hotter. The plug doesn't heat up enough to burn off stuff fouling the plugs giving you sputtering. Short trips are defined as trips under 12 miles. If that's true take the car on the highway for a 30 mile or so round trip once a week. That'll burn stuff off.
There are reasons to go colder tho. In my car I've altered the output of the O2 sensor to run lean especially ont he highway so normal plug temps would melt in my engine.

i make constant long trips everyday, i put in the bosch for now but im tryin to find some g-power platinum ngk's, what kinds do u all use, im still havin a small sputtering problem but i get get the car back up to 75 without it feelin like its gonna fall apart.
when i pulled the originals there were ac delcos in there and i dont know if they were put there by the dealer reacently after an oil change problem or originals but 3 of them were pretty much fried

oh ive got a CAI and dual exhaust so im guessin im runnin lean

sorry i mean rich, gotta lay off the natty ice

What do the plugs look like when they're pulled? If it's sputtering and they were just put in you might look at what's causing it.

plugs were all black on tops where the gaps were

Hows your oil comsumption? Is it black on only a couple or all of them?

oil stays full up till the next oil change, althouh i just switched to using royal purple 5w30 with lucas oil stablizer and its gone down just a little,
3 of the plugs were black sorry bout that
im gonna run some seafoam through all the systems later when i can get some better plugs and install em after i burn everythin all out
Kill list:03 eclipse, 06 GTO, 04 Mach 1 Mustang
Yeah run the seafoam but when you do it run it on half a tank of gas. Odd that it's only on 3 plugs but you'd definately notice oil consumption if it was oil fouling even one plug I have a feeling you proobably have stuck injectors or a sticking fuel pressure regulator. Might make sure that your FPR is connected to the intake properly.
