When making turns at low speeds, I get a creaking sound in the front end somewhere. That's the only time I hear it, but not all the time.
I am going to try to diagnose this weekend, but what should I check for?
I am thinking 1 of 3 areas: rack and pinion, ball joints or tie rod ends.
Car is a '96 Z24, 2.4L, 140K miles. thanks.

If the noise happens while you're turning the steering wheel it may be struts or strut bearing plates. If it happens while your moving and the steering wheel is already turned, check your wheel bearings.

Is it mainly when your moving and going over bumps in the road? If so it's just your strut mounts....at least you've got the good style of mounts....mine have been making noises after it was a year old. I can't say for sure if i'm right or not but pushing down a few times above the strut mount area of mine and they make the same noises.
