Hey, i have a 95 cavalier 2 door, 5 speed. I blew the motor and was told my many people engines were the same from like 91-96 or 97, so i bought a 93 for parts. I put the 93 2.2 in my car, changed the injector wiring harness, coil pack and crank sensor...and it wont fire, i have no power to the injectors and when i tested last night i have no spark..anything im missing?
I am pretty sure youre 93 2.2L in youre 95 isnt going to work, If you got the ecu computer out of the 93, plug it into where the old ecu in the 95. If nothing happens, I dont think that set up is gonig to work for you.
Thats what i thought at first, but when both motors, they looked identical the only thing that seemed different was the electrical stuff, which ive changed..the CKP sensor plugged right onto the coil pack on the old motor, mine has a seperate plug that runs into the harness, 3 wires one +, one -, and one trips the fuel pump..ive chaned all the @!#$ i can see is different so far..i really hope i dont hafto swap the pcm lol
Did U hook up the engine to frame grounds? Also i think there's a cable from the starter lug that powers the harness, might check that also.
Don
Im pretty sure i figured it out..i put in my newer style crank sensor and nothing, but after doing some testing i found that my crank sensor is no good lol, apparently it doesnt take much to screw them up, and i had a nice chunk of connecting rod flying around in my oil pan..
Well just for reference, the engines from 94-98 were about 120hp/130torque
The one you put in (93) is 110hp and 130 torque, so unfortunately you lost 10hp in that process
