CAR-2001 CAVALIER
PROBLEM-
Hi all,i just noticed this on Sat and want to get it fixed right away.
When i have my air on it goes on and off about every 10 sec and keeps cycling until i turn it off.
It doesn't blow cold air out anymore just warm air
But the thing is when im on the road,HWY it blows out the coldest air just like it used to.
Its only when i idle it keeps cycling on and off
I figured it just needs a cuple more pounds of free-on(sorry for the spelling)but someone else said i probly have a leak. But i know of people in 06's that have had there ac recharged already.
Any help would be great

If the A/C is not working in the city, but is on the highway there is most likely a plugged condensor.
Let me explain.
Your A/C is one big heat exchanger/remover. Simply put there is no such thing as cold air, simply the removal or addition or heat.
The condensors job is to remove heat, if it is plugged up it cant do it effitivly. But then at highway speeds there is enough air flow for it do it.
That would be my first guess at your problem. You know you ca diagnose your A/C system using your hands. It is simply the temp of the lines, is it hot, warm, cold, or cool..
Let your A/C run for about 10 minutes. Is the line going to the condensor hot, warm, cold or cool, and the line going from it?
hope this helps

Really!!!,well thanks for that info
so if the dealer on Monday does find thats the problem,is this part alot of $$$ and do they have to take my hole side of passenger capartment out.
one more thing, since they or going to check what the problem is and or going to vacum out my system will that unclouge the condensor.
