belt reseat itself?

Can the belt reseat itself? I went to put the belt back on and its on good on all the pulleys but the power steering pulley its off by like 2 rows towords the inside. if i start the car will it jump back on those 2 rows or will it jsut fly off and i'll have to start all over agai with the @##%# thing. god its hard puttin the belt on...

for the life of me i cant get the damn tensier to let lose i got the 15mm wrench on there and i pulled hard and the damn bolt started to come undone. how do i get this stupid belt on im lost...

sounds like you auto tensoner is froze up, you will need a new one. For the 2.2 it pretty expensive you will need to unbolt the p/s pump and remove the whole plate be couse the new one is the whole front plate.

well i got it on by unboltin the alternator and pull hard enough that i got the belt on the alt. pulley and forced the alt. back into place

The tension is released by turning the wrench CLOCKWISE, same way as "Righty Tighty". Here is a link that may help:-

This info is just in case you were trying to UNDO it in the normal
direction.

For info the belt WILL self align if nothing is damaged.
