HELP!!!
My 2000 Z24 has only the third brake light working. I can turn on the head lights and the sides will light but when I put on the brakes it's only the spoiler mounted one working. I checked with a volt meter and did not get voltage to the sockets with the brakes on. All of the fuses tested good. This is my daily driver and I can't afford a ticket or worse an accident. Thanks for any advise.
Almost sounds like the brake light switch @ the pedal is bad.
I thought that too, but the third light still works when you press the brake pedal.
I could be a turn siganl switch
The turn signals and hazzards work though.
do youre running marker lights work?. Could be youre brake light cirucit in the bulb maybe burnt out.
I had a 98 GMC Jimmy, and the hazzard light switch on the stearing column broke when I was putting the dash back together after installing a headunit. In order for me to not have the hazzards on, I stuck a piece of paper in to block the electrodes (temporary, of course, until I found a new switch). Low and behold, only the 3rd brake light up top out back worked when I put on the brakes. You probably have a problem in your multi-function switch in the column. Controls turn signals, brake lights, even the horn is routed through there. ...at least in the Jimmy, could be different in these cars.

yep you turn signals can still work and the switch can be bad.
Thanks guys. I have a new turn signal switch on the way. I will let you know how it turns out.
The new turn signal switch arrived today. I took the old one out and installed the new one in about 35 minutes. Works great and all the brake lights work now. Thanks for everyones help.
