I have a 1997 Sunfire Coupe with 137,000 kms. The transmission is a 4-speed with traction control. Last week while driving, the ETS light came on and will not go off. The traction control switch on the shifter is in the "on" position but the light continues to stay on. The check engine light is not on (in the past, when I had engine troubles the check engine light and the ETS light would come on simultaneously). The car is working fine, no problems evident with either the engine or transmission. Anyone have any suggestions as to why the ETS light would be staying on? It is a problem with the transmission?

First thing to do is have the car scanned to find out what code is putting the light on. That will lead you in the right direction.
