Since the A/C clutch is acting up and the compressor is leaking some at the different sections (dye coming out), I bought a kit off E-Bay with new compressor/clutch, oil, dryer and orifice tube. If I thought that sealant you can inject into the system would do the job I would limp it along but I think these pieces are on their last legs. So I am a DIY kind of owner and can tackle putting all this in except to do it correctly it calls for having a flush done on the system (has to be clean and so you add the right amount of oil) , vacuum pump down of the system and recharge. This is where it gets confusing!
Meineke wants $250 to flush, evacuate and recharge. That seems like a lot! So to go this route I would need to install the new stuff before taking it to them. This kind of wouldn't make sense though since I would have the new stuff on flushing any crap though it!!! So how would you handle it or what is the way to go?
Wish I could do it on my own.... all of it!

$250 is INSANE for a evacuate, recover and recharge.
R134A, doesnt cost much, think about $10 a pound.
The most time it will take a shop to do the recharge is hour.
Go someplace else and get a different quote.

Most places it is about $90.00 and a little more for a lb. of 134. The other cost is in having the system flushed. I need to call some other places to see.... $150 to do that sound high?
