ok so my alternator broke last night, i mean it literally broke, anyways i've been wanting to step up on an alternator but as anyone who is married out there knows the only time you can upgrade anything on your car is when it breaks, well it's now broke so i'm upgrading haha anyways, where can i get a larger amp alternator for a 98 sunfire 22 with ac rear defrost, not sure if that makes a difference. but where can i get a new one, also is there anything else i'm going to have to change or will it just bolt right on and all the connections will work? let me know i know people out there have done this

thanks

Just a note most auto stores carry upgraded amperage alternators but mostly give u the stock oem replacement when u ask oh I need a alter for etc.U should only upgrade ur alter if ur running amps that draw more amps than ur stock alternator is capable of running with out putting a strain on the alternator and battery.Dimming lights or flickering lights on the head unit or car with the stereo cranked up are indications of a under powered or rather not enuff amps to effectively run the amp and head unit and other added electrical items.I hope this is usefull and decide which amperage alter best suits ur spec add ons and if the stock eom works with out issues go that route, other wise upgrade to a higher amperage to handle the needs of ur car.
