the sounds sounds very similar to the famous clacking noise when you do S-turns in a J. i think the problem with that is wheel hubs or bearings or somethign correct?
well this noise is in the front right i think. when i shift in to reverse or drive there is a clack. and sometimes when i am at a stop as soon as i touch the gas pedal it will make that same clack. but once it does that there are no problems at all.
i was thinking something with the front right axel/suspension etc...
or maybe could it be a trany mount? or maybe an engine mount?
im at near 100k with original everything pretty much. except the tranny itself was replaced about 2 years ago.

i found another post that sounds to be the exact same problem.
can people take pictures of areas i need to inspect for obvious damage and what the wear/damage would look like?
i also have a bit of wobble and clack when i make sharp turns as well. does this mean tie rods? and how much are they and how hard are they to install?

Seems like to me it would be youre lower motor mount is worn out, My 01 cavalier even if youre upper mount could be worn as well. Those are usually common to wear out.
ive got uppers and lowers but just havent had the tiem or money to go take it to a shop to get them installed.
that wouldnt cause the steering wobble tho, maybe i need the mounts installed AND something else is going on.

i have had one 1993 cavz24 and my current 2002 cav both j - body
and yea i had the same noise and i figured out the problem is the control arm bushings they are pressed in the controll arm .. i changed mine and the annoying clicking noise when i shift / accel/ reverse.. so yea look into polyurthanes as well.
Intersting posts. I have had the same problem with my daughter's 97 Sunfire Conv. I replaced the motor strut and transmission mount, and unfortunately, the bump was still there. I raised the car again, and saw the control arm bushing's rubber part was cracked. It was the one at the rear part of the arm. In fact both control arms had worn bushings. You can raise the car and shine a light toward the bushing, and hopefully you can see the problem.
