halfshaft

I bought a new half shaft for my 96 2.4l manual cavalier when I removed the old one there was a big bracket on it.

The new one didn't have one and when I looked at the old one I could not see any way of getting the bracket off.

I installed the halfshaft with out the bracket and everything seems fine. When I went to return the core the guy said he has never seen a halfshaft returned with a bracket on it.

We spent quite abit of time trying to figure out how to take it off but with no luck. We checked the part# and every thing was correct. We even checked the manufacture's manual and the Chilton manual but they don't say anything about the bracket.

the guy at the store said that since this was the original halfshaft that maybe the new ones are built where you do need them,

Can anyone help me out

thanks
