i'm having problems with the Milage in the city, i have a 2.3 in my 95 cav, with a manual. and driving around, the motor is sluggish under 3k rpms, and and is hesitive. I just put a new crate motor in, and the old motor did the same thing, My air filter is good, just replaced the fuel filter, and O2 censor, and told the catalitic converter is good, and Ideas?

1K sounds high for the idle. My 2200 manual idles at 900 rpm while sucking down 0.4 GPH. Your 2.4L at 1000 rpm probably does half a gallon easy. There's no easy way to lower the idle, so I'd say your driving style may have something to do with it. As far as the hesitating, I'd check your ignition system. If you can get your hands on some kind of tuning tool, taking your idle down to 550-600 rpm will give you a great city mpg increase.

I guess it all depends on what you consider city mileage. A bumper to bumper crawl would put any car into the single digit MPGs.
