My car has been making a wierd clunk noise from the passenger side front. I first thought it could be a motor mount but, then was told it's a strut mount? Well, since the new suspension replaced the whole stock suspension it still makes the noise? Now my buddy's are saying it's ball joints, someone please help!

When I went to Advance Autoparts to buy a lower motor mount, I found out it's also called a torque strut. Make sure that you're certain of the part before replacing it. I had the same problem though it was intermittent. It would clunk on acceleration or deceleration. Also when shifting from reverse to drive and vice-versa. I think if it were a suspension part, you'd hear it when going over bumps.

its strut mount.. notorious in these cars.
but ya basically wut he said put it in reverse brake kinda hard put it in drive it should clunk when it shifts from foward to reverse
It is not at all possible for it to be a strut mount, I just put the direct replacement tein ss-p coilover setup. And also I have brand new upper insert & lower mount by rksport. This is why I'm having such a hard time with this. If you know of anything else let me know!
oh and it does slightly clunk over pot holes and other minor dips

No...
torque strut == lower mount
The thing that looks like a dogbone which keeps your engine from rocking back and forth. It's underneath the engine, on the passenger side. The rubber on the inside is known to rot out. A replacement can be had for $40. RKSport sells a stiffer one for the same price. This is not a suspension part, it holds your engine.

It could be a few things. It could be your control arm bushings, axle, Tierod ends. They all make that noise.
Just get the youre car up on jack stands, Get a buddy to put the car into gear then inspect where the problem could be happening, Could be a bolts loose or broken part. If you ball joints are worn you will have alot of wheel wobble. Easy way to check youre ball joints while you got the car on jack stands, place both hands on each side of youre front tires move the tires up and down if their is any play youre ball joints are wonrout.
Good Luck.
With the car even on the ground I can grab it and it's got a lil bit of play on the side where the clunking is comming from. So is this commen? 136,000 miles?

Does it have play when up and down motion? I know in my cavalier has a lil play in the tie rod when I am move the steering back and fort.
Could be little wear is occuring, Soon to be replaced. Sometimes youre rack & pinion arms become worn as well. RE: With the tires on the ground, And when you turn youre steering wheel right to left, Does it make a clicking sound?. I am just trying to narrow it down for you.
1). Best way to tell youre balljoints are wornout, you got to have the car jacked up on stands, With both hands on eah side of the tires try moving the tire up and down, If their is any movement 100% youre ball joints are wornout, Even when you are drive 35-55 mph you will have a bad wheel hop in the front end, That also beens youre ball joints are totally unsafe replace ASAP.
2). Tie Rods usually play in the steering when turning you can feel a wobble while turning the steering wheel.
3). Some times youre Rack & pinion bushings could be wornout, In which causes play in the steering, Could lead to misleading parts to be worn.
Even when you replace youre upper and lower Mounts, If you got auto trans, Even transmission mount could be worn as well. Best thing to do is recheck all youre bolts for tightness, Inspect youre all front suspension balljoints, Tie rod ends etc.
Good Luck
Keep us updated.
its your balljoints and if you dont fix it now, it ll only get worse and maybe snap on you when you make a hard turn or a U eh
if it happen after u lowered it ur shock is blown causing it clunk
No way it's shocks. The tein suspension is only couple months old. Tranny mount is ruled out because it's a 5 speed. I'll try what your saying rich.

i let mine go for too long and now i also need a drive axle too .i have a 4 speed or so they say but the only axle that matches mine was a 3 speed .sone one told me that the other mal;e end comes out .but that did not happen .and my torque strut got so bad that it ripped the bracket off the engin .now the engin has to be pulled to tap out the bolts. good engin bad mounts i guess
