Well, I only waas able to talk to my girlfriend for a minute last night, and she was frustrated her car wouldn't start. I was wondering if any of you experts could give me some insight. When she puts the key inthe ignition, and rolls it forward into ACC, everything comes on as it should. But when she goes to roll it forward to start it... nothing. No clicks, no starter noises, nothing... All the lights go out on the dash, radio, etc... the gas guage goes to 0 like it should, but nothing.
I thought maybe a fuse but I'm not sure. Is the starter circuit on a FUSE?? Obviously I would look myself but I don't have the car here (in another country

)
Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!!!
what the fuel gauge is doing tells me the battery is dead ive seen berettas do that all the time try having it jumped see if it starts
Yeah, but when you crank the ignition cylinder over to start the car, all the guages should drop to 0 while the starter is cranking over right? Then when the car starts and the key springs back to the ACC position, the guages come back up. The car is doing that but while she holds it in the start position, nothing happens.
But I'll definitely have them jump it too, never hurts to try that first.
Tried jumpstarting. nothing.
The only weird thing they found was a 120Vac power plug hanging under the car that had been dragging for some time... The connector was all jacked up. The only think I can think it might be is an engine block heater that was installed before they bought it.
So, if the power cord for an engine block heater got snagged on something, would that cause the car to not start?? I know nothing about engine block heaters btw. Also, he tried plugging in the engine block heater and it immediately blew the circuit breaker in his house. So, something is short circuited with his engine heater... but what would that have anything to do with the starter circuit??!
also, they tried swapping the fuses under the hood too, no difference. (He swapped two 50A fuses. I assume the 50A fuse is the starter circuit?? Again, I am not there to look for myself).
They might wanna check voltage to the starter solenoid. It might be burnt up. T least it would take it out of the equation.
I plan on living forever... so far so good
Well I've pinned it down to the master starter relay (is that what it's called?) it's the one in the front of the car, mounted right behind the radiator, inside the engine bay. So, now we have to get one from the dealer.
We were able to start the car by jumpering the terminals going to the starter. So, either there's something wrong in the control circuitry going to the relay, or the relay is bad.
