So my throttle cable snapped on my 2002 Cavi (not '92 or '82, '02!) and I've been meddling with it to try and get it working again. I was able to remove the old cable/housing lickety-split but I can't figure out how to disconnect (or reattach the new cable to) the throttle cable plate (or as the laymen would call it - the black plastic piece that moves up and down).
I would love to know if I need to first take the TB off the car to attach the cable, and more importantly, how to attach the cable itself. I know it's not just push or pull and the cable and it will come out, it's in there pretty good. I was thinking I might have to remove the throttle cable plate but I didn't know if the spring inside was compressed or not and didn't want to risk it.
Any help is good help and pics are even better.
ASAP answers will warrant many thank you's.
I havent done mine in a good 2 or so years but ill see if i can help ya.
The tv cable is connected to the black rotor on the throttle body with a small lead ball. It should just pull out after lining up the ball with the open end where it is, and just pull.
The TV cable realeses from the throttle bracket by a set of ckips on the underside of the bracket. Push them in and just pull out the TV cable from the top side of the bracket.
Now if you follow it down to the tranny, there is one bolt that holds the connection in place. Remove that bolt and put to the side.
The cable is held in by a simple hook/loop connection. The I cant remember which side was which. But just unhook it, and hook in the new cable, and reverse my above directions.
