DTC P1441 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Flow

Hey guys,

I figured I would ask you guys first as to how I'm supposed to fix this problem. I got the code from Autozone, and, like in title, it gave me the code, "DTC P1441 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Flow During Non-Purge".

Now, I'm not very technically inclined, so I need help as to what exaclty I need to do to fix this problem. Is it a seal? Need a new pump of some sort?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I've never had a code thrown out before. The car also has 70000Kms on it...

Thanks in advance,
Graham

Year/Engine?

OBDII is all pretty much the same just with diff. codes for diff. cars.

Sounds like it might either be the gas cap needs tightened/replaced or you will have to look into the evap system for emissions.

More information on the car will help.

Check the Purge Valve, if it's the same as the one for my 3100, I have a brand new AC Delco one laying around for sale.

Well, OK

but you could try the following:-

1. Tighten the gas cap

2. Replace the gas cap sealing gasket

3.Replace the whole gas cap assembly

4. But-I would firstly check all the vacuum lines to the purge canister and right through to the gas tank, making sure you have no leaks.

Thanks for the ideas guys....

I tightened the gas cap as soon as I saw the light, however, upon tightening it, it didn't turn the light off. If it was the gas cap, would tightening it turn the light off, or would you still have to get the code cleared via the ODB II Scanner tool?

Anyways, I got the code cleared yesterday, and the light hasn't come back on, so hopefully it is nothing and the engine is still fine.

Thanks for your help Dan and Alont,

Graham
