Reverse Lights Are Out & Power Window Q.

well just have some questions on some problems hope some1 could help me or point me in the right direction

1) my reverse lights are out and i took it 2 the dealership and they said they could not fix it since i @!#$ around with the bcm (disabled my drl lights) and i have aftermarket wiring under the dash. what . so i know there is some tranny fuse/switch that i just need to replace. does any1 know where this is located and what the part number is??

2)i went to a junk yard here by my house and i found this 97 coupe sunfire with power windows. i was like my only question is how the hell do i get the motor and the regulator off. what tools do i need.?? would it be better to get it at the junk yard or just buy it on ebay for about 140 for 2 regulator and motors (used compared to new 1s).

thanks in advance guys

Well the first question i cant answer, however #2 i can.

The window motor is connected to the tracks by 4 rivits. You need to grind them down or drill them out to release it.

Now the tracks are held in by 4 bolts. 2 on the smaller track, and 2 on the upper long track.

I believe they are either 10 or 12 mm socket size.

I hope these pics help you.

And just wait for lowfire to chime in, Because the Jbody god of doom knows how to do it.

LOL

If your car is a 5sp, the switch is mounted on the Dr side of the transaxle behind the plastic dust cover. Mine went out recently too, $18 at Autozone and 20 min to replace. The power windows you'll have to drill out the rivets for regulator removal. You'll also need the swtiches, and the wiring harness portion for those. When you re-install them, you can use bolts/nuts but use some thread locker 'cause they will vibrate loose. I've thought about installing those on my '03 too, i did an install on a '98 wasn't tuff to do.

Not true on the regulator comments. From the factory, the regulator is held to the door using rivets, not bolts. They'll need to be grinded off.

The window is also attached to the regulator with rivets, but those ones can be removed with pliars and effort. They're a different kind.

If you're converting your car to use power windows, you don't need to seperate the motor from the regulator.
