Hey guys,
I think I may some water in my oil due to sucking in some water through the intake...
I am not going to be able to change it till tomorrow, would it be ok for one more day w/o changing the oil? While driving it short distances?
Thanks,
Chris
If it runs normal, and doesnt hesitate or stall or do anyhting wierd, then yea, it should fine for a day.
if your oil is white and foamy then don't drive it. But water mixed in oil will turn into acid, so get that chagned out ASAP.

Drive the car for an hour or so. The water will boil away.

if it was only a little bit of water it would be gaseous by the time it entered the engine anyways.
I wouldn't worry about it.
What exactly happened. So long as the oil isn't "milky" and doesn't have any white in it you should be fine.
You'd be surprised how much water your engine processes every year, humidity in the air gets in every time you drive on a cold, or humid day. As your engine warms up you get condensation on all the metal in there.
If its not hydrolocked you dont have enough water to hurt it.
The only thing that really should allow water into the oil is a head gasket leak.

and then there are some people who actually inject water into there engine to reduce detonation

They don't inject it into the crankcase.

true, But its nearly impossible to get so much water in the intake that it somehow passes the gaskets and into the oil.
