part throttle stumble???

i cant really find anything on this topic by searching so here is my problem. it only does this after the car is fully warmed and i give it about a third the way down it will pull until about 2,200 it stumbles and sputters until about 3,000 then its wide open again. the plugs and boots just been replaced, along with the fuel pump, filter, and regulator. its seems to do it a little less on higher octane fuel but i would prefer to be able to run 87 again. the engine is the 96 2.4 auto. thanks for any help given

Have you checked the O2 sensor? A car that's running lean in closed loop mode but fine in open loop (cold start and WOT) might have a bad O2 sensor. If you have a 1-wire sensor, check your grounds too. If your O2 sensor is reading consistantly rich (high voltage), your ECU will keep cutting back on fuel and the CEL may not light. Clean the outside of the O2 sensor to make sure it's exposed to the air. If that doesn't work, check it with a digital multimeter. The voltage should fluctuate between 0.2 and 0.8 volts at least once a second.
