A/C on = NOTHING

When I turn on the A/C in my 96 nothing happens. I mean nothing. The compressor doesn't kick on, the clutch doesn't engage, nothing. THe only thing that works is the A/C light. Is there an A/C swith or something that could be bad or could it be the compressor? I've checked all the fuses and they're fine.

What does coolant have to do with the A/C turning on, lol????

To the poster.

Actually with modern day cars you dont actually turn on your A/C, you request A/C on. The computer looks at several different factors, it if doesnt like something it will not turn on the A/C.

Two major things, if your battery voltage is low it will not turn on the compressor.

And the next major thing, it looks at low side and high side pressure. Now typical low side pressue is 2.5/ambient air temp, and high side is 2.5 times ambient air temp.

Typicaly as a general range and I mean general, low side arouund 35psi, and high side around 220psi.

If the pressure are to low or two high it isnt going to turn on.

First thing I'ddo is get a set of A/C gauges and look at the pressures.

I know it is, but the poster seemed to think they posted the stickies to waste space, who knows.
