Why use premium gas???

Ok. your car is Turbocharged, Supercharged or you have a built engine for race....that I can understand....but theres a lot of people here putting premuim gas on their cars when theres no difference at all!!!

Which Gas? Do you really need the expensive stuff? CLICKY

"Don't be gulled by slick oil company marketing ploys about the benefits of premium fuel: few new cars really need it and those that don't won't run any better from using it.

There's no mystery to it. Just take a look at your owner's manual; it will tell you the manufacturer's fuel recommendations. There may also be a sticker on the gas cap or even on the instrument cluster under the gas gauge.

Whatever it says, abide by it. You're only wasting your money by burning premium fuel in a car that doesn't require it. Higher-octane (91 and up) gas burns more slowly, and will actually give poorer performance when fed to engines that were designed to burn regular 87-octane fuel."...............

Well if you got an older ride it needs more Octane to keep up with performance, I do notice the differance, Not in hp, Just the response on the throttle and idle, Gas mileage little bit, My friend has an 2001 Jeep 4.0L V6 he cant run 87, Hes gotta put 92. Every car and truck is different.

most gas companies sell fuel thats does not make a difference ( 87 - 92 octane) anything above I have noticed a difference. For example, i was broke 2 weeks back and had to run 91 instead of my usual 94. After that, i thought i was losing compression or had some problem with my engine (not realizing i was putting different gas in the car) checked everything, it was fine. Got paid, put my 94 back in and within a day the car was running great again.

I don't believe anything under 92 does anything except burn money. But i stand by 94, there is such a difference. try it yourself, One week put only 94 octane (found at Sunoco) in your car, ok maybe you donut notice much off the bat. the next week run regular. you will notice a difference in acceleration and general drivability. I accidentally did that test, and again, I thought there was something wrong with the car.

Once I did the cams and P&P head, I would get KR if I wasn't using Premium. After a few nights with HPtuners however, I'm able to run far more timing advance than my stock HO table would allow, and no KR. While it's true that our engines don't need premium, the stock tune is so crappy that the car may run better on Premium, at least that has been my experience.

15.3 @ 89.97mph, 14's on the way?
