Hey guys,
Quick question...on the 00-02 Cavaliers, is there a bulb behind the odometer to light it up with the rest of the cluster? I'm assuming there is as my odometer's visability has gone down greatly suddenly, except during the day when I can barely see the number outline (it still is changing as I add miles). If so, is the bulbs the same as the rest of the gauge cluster? Thanks a ton.

I dont know, i have the same problem, so ill wait for an aswer.
well theres no bulb.....its the LED screen itself....that means that you odometer light its burn out.....to find out if its really damaged, whack or tap the top part of your dash where the cluster is a couple of times with slight force....if it doesnt come back, you need to replace your cluster ( like it happened to me ).....hope this helps

your odometer light should look something like this at night.... no background light

Is there a possiblility that I could have an exposed wire or anything that might be drawing from this light source? The reason I ask is that I wired my A/F, D-Pic, and Voltmeter gauge recently (running power from the battery and the headlight) recently and that was when the light started to go out. I noticed it after I put the dash back on, which leads me to believe that maybe I knocked the odometer a little harshly when putting the dash above it back in place. Hopefully that is the case, although I really don't care about not seeing the odometer as long as it is still keeping track of mileage. I'll try knocking it though, and give an update when I get the chance. Thanks guys!

Yes there sure is a bulb back there. It's soldered to the board right under the LCD screen. Exact same as the others on the board to light up the dash.. Mine went out and I had to replace it myself. I posted instructions here a while back but I can't seem to find the post.. I spent less than $3 on the repair. Dealer wanted to replace the entire cluster. You just have to be handy with a soldering iron.
