Its a rubber boot of some sort its on the end of the tie rod on top its leaking grease and its sqashed as you can see in the picture, what is it called and can the rubber boot be replaced? if so is there better than OEM replacement for this part? i outlined the part im talking about
Thanx
i think it probably cant be replaced and if it couldi bet its cheaper to just get a new tie rod end
That's the Tie-rod grease boot. Being a little squashed is how it's supposed to be, leaking grease is is split or cracked? Unless it's split/cracked i wouldn't mess with it. They make replacement boots, you have to remove the tie-rod end from the spindle pop the new one on and re-grease to replace.

Its cheaper to replace the Whole tierod end then just replace the boot. No one sells just the boot anyhow, ive looked in the past. It it doesnt need to be replaced unless its cracked or split. Thats what its supposed to look like.
Oh and double posting is the devil.
I have this same exact problem, but when making a slow right turn theres a single clunk noise coming from the right side (where there rubber is damaged)...

All you guys can do is keep an eye on it, Once the boot is torn basically needing replacing.
there is definatley something wrong with it, it looks different than the outher side, would that affect alighnment?
Double posting is badd!
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
Pop a grease gun on the fitting and fill it up if it's collapsed. It will leak out of the top from the fitting if you over fill. You should notice right away if the boot is torn or damaged, as grease will ooze from it quite a bit.
it's called a grease bag, or bellows boot, it can only be replaced with a new tire rod end
