hey guys, i just got a warning that i got 30 days to take off my ractive can of my car. They said it was too loud. I love it the look, anyways i could get a baffle put in it at a muffler shop??? Thanks

I had the same kind of cannon type muffler, I had to remove it off my car, I did care for the tone. All you got to do to make it have a nice mellow tone is get the muffler shop to add a cherry bomb resisnator to youre exhaust, It should keep the tone nice. Even the cops have given you a warning, Do you have to take it to the police station for inspection?. A friend of mine had the same issue, Even that he argued with the officer that look at 5.0L mustangs with flow master exhausts are least 10 times louder, All you got to do is see if youre city or state has a bylaw if its allowed to have anykind of exhaust tones.

Did they do a noise test using a decibal meter? An officer cannot determine if an exhausts "note" is too loud by ear. Sound laws are usually quite specific as to how the test is performed. Distance from the vehicle is considered also other factors the officer must use are the noise or volume at idle. The officer can not ask you to just rev your engine and then claim it is offensive. An engine sounds different under load than just revving at a stop light. Hope this helps.

hey guys.. ya i no what you mean.. um the officer came to my house and said he was getting compaints about it being to loud. he had took a stick and put it in the muffler to se if there was any baffles which there's not. he told me to start it up and step on the gas. he said ya that's way to loud. Gave me 3 weeks to get it changed. Ummm how much do you think it would cost me to put a cherry bomb resisnater in it to make it quiter. Thanks guys.

where in nov scotia????cuz when i lived there cops sasid the same thing and i told the cop i'd see him in court if he didn't want to test it with a db meter...and yes in nova scotia there is a law of how loud it can be...and i know for a fact that a mustang with 2 cherry bombs as mufflers passed it...so if i was u i'd fight it...

stuff you some steel wool up into the muffler till you get it quiet as it needs to be, then after inspection pull it out.
it works, trust me. and in virginia, the butthole laws say if it's not stock, it's illegal.

Neighbors can be @!#$s sometimes... A few years ago when I first bought my house. I had to go to court because the neighbors said my dogs where disturbing the neighborhood with their barking... Yet every single house around me had at least 1 to 3 dogs which I always heard barking. Funny thing is I only worked 2 days a week back then. so I was always home and when I was home they never barked.Now they complain if my grass is taller than 5 inches. I don't even live their anymore. I've been trying to get it ready so I can sell it. If your neighbors are pricks there's pretty much nothing you can do about it. It will be one complain after another if you don't make them happy the first time.

What I did when I had mine to quiet them down was to use an exhaust pipe adapter and welded a cap on the small end, drilled some holes in the cap, smacked it with a hammer so it wasn't perfcetly round anymore and then rammed it into the tailpipe and up into the muffler. Those mufflers have thousands of tiny holes with fiberglass matting to deaden the resinence. Well the plug makes the exhaust go around and though the matting absobing the sound. So you can keep the muffler and make it quiet. Now I can't say weather doing this will knock off any 1/4 mile times but it will make it quieter.
