And have a ton of questions about it. Thanks for any help!
- Is the center console portion where the @!#$er sits supposed to light up? Maybe show what gear it is in? Ours doesn't!
- The cruise control isn't working for some reason. Is this a common piece to fail?
- In our car we found what looked like a sunroof holder in the trunk. Is the sunroof removable or is this from another car?
- Does this car (2.2 Liter) have a timing chain or belt? When should they be replaced?
Any other known problem areas I should look at or out for? T
Thanks!

The shifter thing on the console; I don't think it lights up. I just got an automatic car and I only see it light up on the gauges.
Common issues that billions will tell you is the head gasket. To see if it is needing replacement: Check your coolant - take the cap off and look for oil in the coolant. When you change the oil, look for coolant - I think the coolant reservoir is a better indicator then that though!
If you can, check the spark plugs too, and note the residue on them, (I think it's white residue for coolant getting into the combustion chamber). The plugs me be harder to remove though, as they are Delco platinums, and because they will last longer, they also are harder to remove due to being in there for a while - be careful taking them off (ie. keep the socket wrench exactly perpendicular), or you'll snap the plug!
Other than that, other issues are mainly common to the car in question and due moreso to owner negligence than to manufacturing defects.
