Fried computer or ECU?
Saturday, June 24, 2006 1:09 PM
Ok heres the thing. I was hooking up my new alternator the other day and forgot to unhook the battery cable on the battery and i accidently touched the engine block with the power wire for a split second. I have a turbo'd ecotec with a Cartech FMU. It was running fine before this and the a/f ratios were at 14.7 under cruising and 11.5-12.5 under boost which is normal. Now that i have everything hooked back up it runs extremely rich under all conditions at like 13.5 and 10.5 when i barely get on the gas. The a/f ratios fluxuate based on the littlest bit of the tap of the gas pedal and not by WOT and boost which tells the FMU to raise the fuel pressure but instead it raises when im not in boost. I tried adjusting the FMU but it just wont adjust any which way. Any clue what could be causeing this? IF i did fry the computer would the car even start and run correctly? Could i have just fried a sensor somewhere? JUst looking for some suggestions on what it could be. Im going to the the CELL cehcked tomorrow to see what codes its throwing.

i would stop driving the car and fix it before you blow it up. i honestly dont know why that would screw up the ECU but stop driving it. its not worth blowing it up.

Okay one way to test the PCM. Is it giving any output voltages?

How can I test if its giving any output voltages? Also i know this is going to sound dumb but is the PCM located on to the coil pack or in the upper corner of the engine bay and does it control the fuel delivery?

Need a t pin and a voltmeter, and a wiring diagram. You need to t pin into an output, say TPS as that is an output used by the other computers in the car. Is it giving any voltage, are any output sensors giving voltage.

Technically the PCM controls fuel delivery. The fuel injectors are ground side on, so when the PCM driver supplies ground, the magnetic field collapses, and the pintle moves upwards and fuel is sprayed.

OK my cars started throwing some codes......p0130 and p0135. o2 sensor circuit Malfunction if p0130 probably from being rich under boost which is normal with the hahn kit and the p0135 which is an o2 sensor heater circuit which i have my clue. Both are bank 1 sensor 1.

Change the O2 Sensor, and see what it does?

Im not spending 82.00 on an 02 sensor and find out thats not what it is though. I might be able to get it checked to see if its bad.
