yesterday i tried changing my fuel filter but i accedentally snapped the black clip holding the filter on the right side.
my question, is this clip can be remove or it is connected in the fuel line ?
and can i be able to buy a new clip & replace it ? where can i get get one and how much?
I can tell you yes auto zone and advance sell replacement clips and assemblies for those stup quick pain clips.U can buy these for small change for the new clips that insert into the hard fuel line.U could always cheat and cut the line that is the metal and use some fuel injection hose to do away with the clip bs,but that is ur call it is effective and very safe and the hose is designed to handle the psi pressure so not to worry if u one day went that route.Check out the above two auto stores in the help parts section that is where the quick connect parts are and there not to expensive.OK
went to almost all the auto parts store it's different.
Well that is strange but ,keep in mind the clips may not be exactly identical but fit the hard metal lines. What advance and auto zone both sell will work on most gm cars and they do just sell the clips that are made of plastic and in the tool section they do sell the disconnect tool for removing the fuel clips for all usa vechicles and thats a fact.I changed my mom n laws filter on a malibu 98 no prob with out the tool and NO LEAKS.Good luck on ur problem I know my recomm auto stores sell WHAT U NEED.Ok
Well, if you can find one of these replacement quick/disconnects that Ron Love is talking about... then DO THAT FOR SURE... because it will save a lot of money...
HOWEVER>>... and this isn't to burst your bubble... I just had the same thing happen to me, and I took it to a shop and they said that there are replacement lines that you can use to fix your problem, but that they won't "install" those replacement lines because they can't guarantee the product will work... So...
I ended up having to buy a whole new fuel line, because our cars fuel line is all connected to the fuel pump and filter... all in all $600 for parts, labor, and tax...
SO... What I thought was going to be a $12 fix (price of fuel filter) ended up being a $600 mistake, because of that stupid black piece...
My advice, which is obviously a tad bit late... if you want to change your fuel filter, get it professionaly done for the $85 bucks or whatever, and drive more at peace knowing the work is guaranteed...
