signs of a bad starter?

ive been noticing lately that my car is taking a little longer to start... about 2 seconds
im approaching 99k miles. my plugs and wires a new, so i know its not that...

could this be my starter?
any ideas? suggestions?

could be normal.

But just incase, check all the connections.

Might be experiencing a problem with the battery. Does the starter turn slower than it used to? I would fist check the battery after the car has been sitting for the night and see if the volts are correct. Should be about 12.5 with no load on the electrical system. Could check the charging system also while the car is running. Should be 13.2-14.8 while the car is running.

Horrid grinding noise = Bad starter.
Taking longer = Old motor. Do a full rebuild and it will start just like new again.

If you doubt the condition of your starter, use a amp clamp and a voltmeter and check starter current draw.
