Hey, after reading post after post on how to change the fuel filter, I attempted to do it myself thinking it shouldn't be that hard...
I was wrong...
I ended up breaking the black disconnect piece... I did get the filter off and everything, and now I have the new filter in, but it leaks whenever I "prime" it up without completely turning the engine on... There is also a small kink in the hose right before it reaches the filter... So I'm at a complete loss as to what I should do...
I ended up taking my car into a shop to get it done, and they said because of that kink I am going to need a completely new fuel line because our fuel pump is connected to it... and it is going to cost $560... just for the part...
I'm not sure what to do... I've heard about these repair kits... any more info on them?
That sucks but do not pay dealer prices. Get a used line from a junkyard, ebay, etc.

i changed mine again on my z the other day and man am i mad at myself for never taking out the "black box" in the way to get in there, it was soooooo much easier, just in case you didn't do that keep it in mind for the future.
sorry you had bad luck, unfortunately i have no idea if the hose is actually part of the pump or not, but i have my doubts. however i never underestimate gm engineers anymore.
Okay will try to help out here.
I just did mine today on my 04. The one end is the quick disconnect, and the other end is the screw type. You broke the quick disconnect side, so ony my car at least that side is coming from the tank, and the screw side ( which you didnt break) goes to the fuel rail.
Your shop is not lying you do need a whole new line if it is broken, not the pump just the line from the pump to the filter.
Most likely it will involve a tank drop, and yes it will cost quite a bit.

Hack off the line before the kink and run rubber fuel line to a new filter that will accept the rubber line. If you dont find a filter that accepts the screw fitting and the rubber line, cut off the screw side and get a filter that accepts two rubber lines. Lots of hose clamps and you'll be fine. Probably $20 total.
I just used HIGH PRESSURE fuel hose and cut the plastic line where it was straight and hooked the other end to the metal quick connect.
