Okay well the past few months I've been hearing a pretty obvious tick from the rear part of my motor compartment. I have a 2005 cavy with the 2.2 ecotec. The engine must be warm and ran for a bit before it will make this noise, I do not think that its an exhaust leak and it seems to be coming from either the valve cover or somewhere near the location. Has anybody had this expierence before and know what it could be. I have a pacesetter 4-1 header and full exhaust back, but i really don't think the ticking could be a leak beacsue it does not do it at all times. I have an appointment tuesday but I just watn some input from the community. Thanx guys.
i hope to god its not something internal on a 2005. the way i got treated by my dealership i hope they warrenty everything and install @!#$ correctly.
I'm not worried about the delearship at all I know the owner really well so i'm set there, I just want some pre analysis to what people think it could be, i'm either thinking a lifter or whatever they are called on an ecotec, or a wrist pin on the piston. thats all I can think of right now....or maybe a bent valve...
*bump* can anybody give me any clue?
nobody can help with a tech question like this?
Okay bent valve the car will run like @!#$, and most likely miss.
I would take out a stheascope and put it close to the engine while a friend revs it to say 2000, try to isolate the noise.

tried this, can't really find the noise, i thought it might be an exhaust leak but no go there...i really cannot pinpoint the nise but i know its there, i'm taking it to the dlear tuesday but i just wanted to know what some people thought or if they had expierenced this before.
