I was leaking coolant, waterpump was a couple years old, figured it was coming from there, also replaced the thermostat, it looked like it needed it.. now my @!#$ is overheating (to the red zone) if I park it... my blower kicks on, but the engine is not cooling.. if I start to drive it cools back down to normal instantly, dont have to drive fast or far, it jsut cools right down... also another anomoly, at highway speeds the engine is running too cool, usually I am right at the ½ way mark on the temp gauge, but now it drops and stays @ ~¼ temp guage.. any ideas?


its like the coolant isnt flowing thru the system at idle, and its flowing too much at highway speeds....

Is the thermostat backwards ? Easy to do, I'm guilty....

You know thats the first thing I thought... but then I thought... can you even put it in backwards.. I cant remmeber if its possible.. it was dark, and late..

They can be put in backwards in any car. Yes installing it backwards will cause overheating within just a mile or two driving.
