I have a 2003 2.2L Ectotec with a 5 speed manual, and I'm wondering what type of tranny fluid I need for it. It's got 67,000 kms, I've owned it since 58,000, and it's starting to kinda "whine", especially around in fourth gear.
I don't believe that the fluid has ever been changed.
A friend of mine (who's a tech) told me I need a particular fluid that's only used in GM vehicles, and I'd probably have to get it from a GM dealership.
its got that syncromesh crap in it do your self a favor and get the synthetic syncromesh made by valvoline or redline
I'm using synthetic ATF in my Getrag...... little to no "growl"
I tried the Trick Shift full synthetic DXex-III in my getrag. (03 Cav) Shifts great and no rattle or whine. Read it on this forum, worked great.
Don
Yeah, I checked the Haynes manual, and apparently manual trans. cars 2000 and up are supposed to take Dexron IIE or Dexron III ATF. This syncromesh stuff is supposed to go in 1999 and older cars.
Thanks for the replies though.
According to the owners manual for my 2000 2.2 5 spd, it takes the gm syncromesh fluid.
Hmmm..., yeah that's what the Haynes manual says, I didn't check my owner's manual though. Maybe the year of cars in the Haynes manual is wrong. I'd better make sure before I put this stuff in.
i use saturn fluid from gm
manny tranny? sounds like some weird porno
I would have wrote you a poem, but I couldn't find anything that rhymed with F@#K OFF!
