Re: "3rd gen owners look" thread the other day
TSB: 01-02-32-001F
Clunk Heard/Felt from steering column
Clunk is heard of felt from steering column during turning manuver and or wheel rotation.
It effects lots of cars and years but also 97-05 Cavaliers and Sunfires.
The coniditon is caused by " inadequate lubrication of the steering intermediate shaft which may result in a slip stick condition possibly resulting in the clunk noise"
The TSB is eight pages long it says how engeering investigation shows that techs replaced steering gears, and/or the I shaft. It says replacing the I shaft will fxi it temporary because the grease will be disturbed and replaced, and he thinks it was corrected, but ater the vehicle is driven for a several miles the grease is disapted and the noise is back.
Correction
LUBE the intermediate I shaft with grease kit P/N 26098237
DONT replace the intermediate I shaft with P/N , 15243954, 26078302, 26100571, 10367811, 10376430,10376429,10376428,10377680.
So I was correct, he should not replace anything, it is simply replacing the grease with another type.
Replacing the I shaft will NOT fix the problem and he will get a comeback.

So you made a point just to say he is wrong? Why couldnt you just post in the topic where that came from? Instead you waste bandwith by posting this.
To me you seem like a very negative person and you are always cutting people down. You always make posts like this saying you are right and everyone is wrong.
I dont think i have ever seen a positive post from you that i can remember. As you can tell, i dont like you or your attitude and i finally had to say something after reading this.

No he was saying I was incorrect, when obviously I'm not.

I was going off what the TSB says for the number I listed. If this is a different TSB then it is not the same one I listed so you are not right. No where in the one I gave does it say to grease it, it says to replace it. If you found another one that might help the guy out thats wonderful but did you post it there ?
Look I posted the TSB word for word and the number for it too and did you see anywhere in it saying to grease it ?
I didn't, I saw replace it. If you found a DIFFERENT one it does not make you right it makes you someone who found a different TSB thats all.
Now would you like me to send you a cookie ?
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
