I know i sound like an idiot but I was wondering if there is a "at home" if you will to check the pressure in the cooling system with out a pressure tester and whatnot...also a way to test the cap to see if it holds pressure? I hate to ask, but i just had the water pumped replaced ($440) so funds are low. i think i may have another leak somewhere, but not finding anything. so any suggestions on doing an "at home" pressure test would be appreciated!

Not at all.
However Autozone has the loan a tool program. See you rent the tool, pay the price of it, and get it all back when you return the tool.
Also if your around Chicago, I have a coolant pressure kit from Snap On we can use,
