I got a 97 cav 2.2. I had to jump my car this morning and the car started up with the jump no problem. But the check engine light and ets off light came on right when i started it. Drove all the way to work lights still on. What is the deal?
CEL is better named emmisions light now-a-days, but no one cares about emmisions going bad, so they play on the public's fear and keep the 'Check Engine' name. You have an emmisions issue most likely. You can't pass inspection anymore (in certain areas) with the CEL on -- period. Have the code read by someone. Usually, it's an easy/near easy bolt on fix of a new sensor or something. ETS light being on is possibly related by a tranny problem as well.
