IAC location.

Ok my car has been starting harder lately but I noticed that if I put the gas down 1/4 or so of the way down it will start, then it kinda jumps around a little for a second then it calms down and runs fine. And after some searching on here I found some posts of people with similar problems and they were told to take off the IAC and clean it. But i couldn't find were exactly it is, besides on the throttle body.

So where exactly is it on the throttle body, and what do i use to clean it.

My car is '00Z.

Thanks.

The IAC is like a cylinder with the plug on the end. It's the biggest sensor on the TB. You can't miss it. It will usually have 2 bolts holding it. You have the TPS and the IAC.

ok, looking at it I see 2 pretty good size plugs, one right on the front and one on the drivers side, towards the back.
Its one of those I am sure but which one??
and how do i clean it?

It shouldnt be cleaned, it should be replaced.

Also if you decide to clean it, you need a new IAC valve gasket before you install it. Otherwise you have just created a possible vacuum leak.

Well I guess I should have said if it has one then you need it, because to honest I dont know. On many Fords they have a gasket for the IAC valve.

ok, I know if its bad I should change it I am aware, but I was searching and found a bunch of posts where people would say that it was sticking and not opening which was not allowing the car to start normally and they took it out cleaned it with some carb cleaner then put a little wd-40 on it then the car started up just fine so I would rather spend a few bucks cleaning it rather then buying a new one that I don't neccesarily need yet.

So after all these posts I still don't know which part to pull out for sure.

Thanks.
