1997 Chev Cavalier.
2.2 liter efi 5 speed.
I have a strange fuel leak, and I have no idea what it's coming from. There's a small black box tucked up towards the front of the passenger side fender, just ahead of the pass tire. Anybody know what this is, and why there would be fuel there. And why it might be leaking? :?: :?:

I had a beter look/feel of it. It's a small almost square black box, maybe 3.5" by 3.5" and might be 1" think. It has one hose going into it from the front of the car, and it has a 2 wire electrical connection. It's placed more between the inner and outer fender, and it's dripping fuel on the front of the pass tire. (just slightly abobe the tire and in front of the tire. and I can move it up and down. It's attached to the inner fender. It leaks only for a short time, then stops. It may be under slight preassure, but I have no idea.
Any thoughts?
with the population of this site, someone must know what this thing is...
I think I may have foud it, but I'm not sure. I checked the wires and they are pink, and white. I found an engine electrical diagram in Mitchell's on Demand, and it shows what's called a "evaporative emission canister vent solenoid" and it says it's in the right front of the engine compart and it has pink and white wires.. so I don't know if that's it or not. but it could be a good start.
