Need Help, Car keeps over heating

Hello to all, i need help asap! Heres the problem, whenever i'm driving the car is fine, but whenever i'm at a complete stop or in a traffic jam, my car coolant guage keeps moving into the red zone.My check engine light has been on for the last month or so, but the car runs good. I was told my the shop that i have an electric problem. The car is reading out 3 codes, air intake sensor or something like that. I have no aftermarket intake installed. My motor fan isnt working, and believe this is one of the problems to overheating. My water pump is fine, no leaks what so ever. Also, the shop tried to get my fuel filter off, but said they couldn't because it was very rusted and they didnt want to break the filter. ANy suggestions to the fuel filter and overheating problem would be surely greatful.

Thanks

if you can't get the fuel filter off, cut the line and buy a new filter that you can put into the existing line.

if your check engine light is on, there's a problem. get it scanned and find out what the code is. use the code to find the problem. if its the air intake sensor it is easy to replace. its the little plug looking thing with wires coming out of it that goes into your intake tube (stock or aftermarket, they both have it).

your fan not working is definately the cause of your overheating problem. start by making sure the fuse isn't just blown. more than likely you'll need to replace the fan motor. you need to get it fixed IMMEDIATELY. if you keep letting your car get in to the red zone you're going to blow a head gasket and kill your engine.

if you can't do the repairs yourself, pay someone to do it...but either way, get it done.

GO PATS!!!

Sorry if this sounds offensive, but I can't believe you're driving the car if you know the fan motor isn't working. I guess you like to live life on the edge.

There's another thread somewhere about how to get the fuel filter off. There's a drawing that shows where to cut it.
