I have been told .050 from Advance Auto parts, .054 by Autozone and .060 from my Haynes manual. Do any of you know what it should be? I have AC Delco plat plugs on a 98 2.2L cavalier.
Haynes is right 90% of the time. And if they're wrong, they're close.
lol your questioning a haynes manual over some retards they pull off the street to work in these stores?
go w/ the .060
It seems if you know whats needed to wash a car then you can get an interview at the auto parts stores around my house. but i think they have it wrong in thier system cause the kids look at the monitor when he told me. I gapped them at .060 per the haynes manual. thanks guys.

Yeah that is probably what it is because those guys go by the computer for everything. I was sold the wrong wheel stud (too skinny) for my Cavy because it must have been wrong in the computer. So I took my broken one in and told them to match it up.

I've found Autozone to have
a lot wrong in their computer.
Napa frequently doesn't have the numbers, you have to compare old and new.
I don't go to Advance or Quest ever, so I don't know how they are.
that's noting...
the 2000 manual J's CV axle was spec'ed as the AUTO axle by the supplier!
Back in the mists of time, i went through 4 axles before submitting photographic evidence to the supplier who informed me that the axle needed was a 95-99 manual. I told them to update their part specifications to include 00-02.
At least DSS, as slow as they are, could tell ther difference.

Delco platinum plugs come pre-gapped. Just pop them in. I made that error last year, which caused a few things to go awry....
I dont know where you got your delco's at but mine were pregapped at .030 or somewhere very close to it. No where near the .060 that they should be.
I would question whether you were given the correct plugs.
Since they guessed the gap wrong, or it was wrong in their system, possible that the plug part number is off, too.
Or they grabbed the wrong box off the shelf.
In any event, I would double check the part number and application if they were only gapped at .030, as just about all plugs these days are gapped by the manufacturer for the specific applications. They aren't always perfect, and the gap should be checked before installation to make sure, but they are typically either right on or very close.
And just to reiterate.... .060 is correct
