Overheating problem! 96 cavy 2.4

Ok, yesterday I was driving and I noticed the temp rising a little... So I keepped an eye on it. Seems to rise more when at idle... When I got home I checked the coolant and its FULL. So I started it back up turned my fan switch on (fan allways running) let it idle for about 5 min and then it really started to get hot! Almost to the red. So I turned it off. So I thought mabey its the themostat? Went to the parts store got me a new themostat and installed it. The problem is a little better but the temp still keeps rising up (at idle) and down (when driving). The coolant light stays on even tho the radiator is full. I cant seems to figure it out. My fan works perfect.... the coolant is full! Its not leaking or overboiling. Help Thanks.

I have the same exact problem. Overheat on Idle, goes back down in drive. Coolant is full, and fan still works. Most people told me it's the water pump, but I haven't replaced it yet to find out if it really is. So my guess is as good as theirs.. water pump.
