Clutch interlock switch?
Saturday, May 27, 2006 4:05 PM
I have a 96 SF 2.2 manual trans. I am pretty sure my clutch interlock switch has gone bad. Just wondering if there are any tips on how to go about changing it? Thanks in advance.

If it's like the brake light switch (most likely), it'll be up top of the clutch pedal arm. I adjusted my brake switch by screwing it into it's mount more so that it makes the lights come on at the slightest tap. Might be the same for the your clutch switch.

I don't think that it's like the brake light switch it closes quickly the clutch doesn't close until the pedal is fully engaged.

With the brake lights, the switch is located to detect the start of travel, the clutch is placed to detect the end of travel. In either case, the switch is put to 'go off' when the desired pedal action is achieved. I still think the clutch switch is near the top of the pedal arm. Given the age of your car (mine's up there, to), it may be a simple as a wire connection issue. The switch IS at the top of the clutch pedal arm.
