broken wheel axel?

so i was driving tonite, and I heard a thumping noise in my wheel well, so i got out and checked for a flat or if something was in my wheel well, and there was nothing I saw, so i kept going and it kept thumping continuously, so i drove to my friends house and called my dad, and he drove it home and my bro followed behind in the truck. It seemed to stop the thumping noise when you press on the gas and hit the brakes, but any other time it made a loud noise. When I got home my bro said it looked like my drivers side wheel was gonna fall off b/c it was wobbling. So my dad thinks the wheel axel or something broke. Did anyone else ever have this problem before?

check your tie rods, my sisters car did the same thing and when she went to turn her tire turned into the fender opposite from the way she was turning. put the car on a lift to find her tie rods were bad. check it out because that most likely would be your main problem at first hand

I blew an axle once, and if it was one, the car wouldnt move forward. Could be a tie rod end as mentioned, but im thinking wheel bearing, they are common to go on our cars. Does it make the noise when you turn the wheel to or no?

Best thing to do is get the car up in the air on jack stands. Least then you can get a visual on the drive train. Usually if you got a tie rod problem you can see if the if the part has any movement. Ive seen before a kid had his strut shaft broke off, His car was making a loud banging sound, I dont know how he managed to do that. alot of weird things can happen.

Good Luck with youre findings.

Yeah, it makes the noise any direction you are going. So if im cruising down the road just going straight it also makes the noise, but as i said, when you step on the gas and hit the brakes, the noise stops, and when you decellerate, adn even shift, it also makes the noise. Thanks for all your help, i'll keep you updated.

When these go does the car end up on the road....tire pointing 90 degress left or right .....

I've seen cars mostly tuners on the side of the road with the front end on the road....scarey looking......My kit would trashed if that happened to me.....this way l can beef them up now.....

Well after my uncle towed my car down to his house to work on it, he found out quick that the lug nuts were just loose! And it turned out the last person to have that wheel off was the inspection place, so I am not very happy right now with them. So now I just have to hope there is no damage to the wheel. Thanks for all your help though.

well if the last place to have the wheels off was the inspection place id file a formal complaint with them and if there is damage make them pay for some new wheels
